Sophia Schwinghammer
SOPHIA SCHWINGHAMMER trained at Charlotte Ballet Academy in North Carolina and Milwaukee Ballet. She was accepted into the Milwaukee Ballet’s second company in 2020 and graduated from their program in the spring of 2022.
Now Sophia is entering into her fourth season with First State Ballet Theater after joining the company in Fall 2022. For this season she is excited to revisit one of her first productions with First State Ballet, Dracula, as well as many other works that will be set on the company this season. She has previously danced in FSBT’s Don Quixote, Dracula, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, The Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Romeo and Juliet. Sophia also finds great joy in performing contemporary work during FSBT’s mixed-repertoire programs Up Front on Market and Triple Bill. She was a featured artist in the original works Sélo by Zachary Kapeluck, Lacuna by Blake Krapels, as well as both Wings and Celestials by Viktor Plotnikov.
In addition to performing, Sophia enjoys teaching for the school of First state ballet, as well as art modeling, and choreographing. She enjoys seeking opportunities to explore new movement qualities and disciplines in her off season and has attended workshops such as the LINK festival, Jose Limon summer intensive and the NVA winter intensive.
