Darien Cormier
DARIEN CORMIER is a native of Gardner, Massachusetts. Darien began his dance training at the age of 9 at Paula Meola's Dance and Performing Arts Center where he studied for 4 years. He continued to study in studios throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire, with schools such as Gate City Ballet, culminating with his time at MEM Dance Theatre before beginning his professional career as a first year company member with First State Ballet Theatre.
Darien attended Chautauqua Institution where he worked and studied under notable people such as Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Patricia McBride, Julie Kent, Stanton Welch, Daniel Ulbricht, Isabella LaFreniere, and Jonathan Batista. Darien performed in "Balanchine's Jewls-Rubies”(one of the four male soloists) under Patricia McBride. Darien also performed “In Good Company” choreographed by Stanton Welch. During Darien's 10+ years of training he also had the opportunity to study under Aleksandr Sasha Lunev former principal dancer of the Kirov Theatre and Denise Pons Leone former soloists with Boston Ballet and an original member of the White Oaks Dance Project with Mark Morris and Mikhail Baryshnikov. He also worked with David Prottas former company member of New York City Ballet. Darien received 1st Place in the Senior Men's Classical division at YAGP Boston semi finals.
This will be Darien's first season with First State Ballet Theatre's company. Darien is excited and grateful to be able to join First State Ballet Theatre for its 2026-2027 season and perform in the beautiful, historic Grand Opera House.
